"A high-energy tale that unfolds at a machine-gun pace...Betley has become essential reading." —Booklist

A global conspiracy threatens America's position in the current balance of power in this "story of action, history, and secrets that is as imaginative as it is compelling" (Steve Berry, #1 New York Times bestselling author) from the author of Overwatch.

Roughly two years after the events of Overwatch, Logan West and John Quick are sent to Alaska to investigate the possible presence of a Russian black ops team on a mission to steal American next-generation technology. The resulting violent confrontation triggers a global search for the stolen technology and threatens to pit the United States against China in a looming shadow war and technology race. As Logan and John—now joined by the chief of the CIA's Special Operations Group, Cole Matthews—battle their way through Spain, the Mediterranean, and ultimately, across Sudan, an imminent threat arises at home that FBI Deputy Director Mike Benson must face and determine if it is part of a deadly global conspiracy.

As New York Times bestselling author Kyle Mills raves, "Betley continues to turn the screws with the relentless action, unbearable tension, and terrifying threats that we all loved in Overwatch. With Oath of Honor, he cements his position as one of the genre's new stars."

Betley’s exciting sequel to 2016’s Overwatch takes series heroes Logan West and John Quick, investigators in a specialized FBI task force, to the Aleutians. They are hunting down members of a Russian black ops team. The Russians are seeking to steal technology code-named ONERING, a new U.S. weapons system that has the ability to hijack any space satellite. The theft is the plan of Namir Badawi, the head of Sudan’s internal security division, who’s determined to humiliate the United States and bring about glory to Sudan as part of a new world order. From Alaska, Logan and John pursue the bad guys around the globe, always one step behind Namir and Maj. Gang Lau, his Chinese spy henchman. Betley’s fight scenes are among the best in the genre, but overuse of internal dialogue and unfunny banter between the principals slow the pace and add a cartoonish character to the writing. Still, readers willing to suspend some disbelief and put up with all the wisecracks will find the action diverting enough to look forward to future installments. Agent: Will Roberts, Gernert Company.

Two former Marines pursue a nebulous enemy responsible for stealing American satellite technology.A former Marine officer, Betley (Overwatch, 2016) brings back the hard-eyed and fast-shooting Marine Force Recon veterans Logan West and John Quick in this fast-paced thriller. For unknown reasons, a research scientist mysteriously moves the test unit of a "ground-based anti-satellite weapon," which has the capacity to take control of any other satellite while remaining unnoticed, from a top-secret D.C. laboratory to a research vessel in the Gulf of Alaska. When the ship is targeted by a well-trained Russian black-ops team which is pursuing the satellite technology, West and Quick arrive in Alaska to interdict their efforts. That's when the gunfights start, and they continue through the rest of the book. This Russian paramilitary unit is simply the tip of a spear that stretches back toward an international conspiracy that consists of a coalition of American enemies. A shadowy Sudanese political leader, a lethal Chinese assassin, the Russian mob, and even the North Korean government are all involved in this international technological heist. Taking orders straight from the FBI deputy director, West and Quick battle their way through layers of these nefarious characters. In the process, gunplay, bone-crushing unarmed combat, and plenty of sarcastic one-liners carry the narrative. Those thirsty for a storyline centered on sharp vengeance against America's most notorious nemeses will be satisfied with this novel.

Betley's follow-up to Overwatch (2016) continues the adventures of former marines Logan West and John Quick, who now are members of an FBI special task force. A research vessel in the Gulf of Alaska is overrun by what appears to be a Russian black-ops team, with West and Quick sent to investigate. It becomes apparent to them both that an effort to steal technology from the U.S. is the motive behind the crime, but they have no idea that every move they make to stop the threat has already been anticipated, and that the main attack is soon to take place. West and Quick team up with a CIA operative, and soon they are galloping around the globe in an effort to save the world from catastrophe. Betley's expertise with the marines and the Department of Defense adds authenticity to a high-energy tale that unfolds at a machine-gun pace. With only two novels to his credit, Betley has become essential reading to fans of the Brads (Taylor and Thor).(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
